Our Father in Heaven's love for us...

Our Father,
who Art in Heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done
on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive our trespassers
as we forgive those
who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
For thine is the Kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.

In Genesis, the thought that captures my attention is our Father, walking in the cool of the night with Adam and Eve. Image after a perfect and warm day, the refreshing relief of the cool of the night, talking to our daddy, our creator, our provider and protector. Then turning in for an beautiful and peaceful nights sleep.

Lets start by spending some time thinking what that would be like.

What appeals to you the most?

What would you choose to talk about?

What is the biggest question you have?

Lets spend some time thinking about what God Himself, our Father in Heaven has done for us.

He created our Planet, Earth. He made it a perfect environment for us to live in.

He gives us water and food, warmth, and shelter.

He gives us His spirit to communicate with Him, to guide us and prompt us when we are going off track.

He watches over us, watches us with hope and dreams in His heart.

He protects us ( Job 1:12 ) and wont let us face more than we can bear.

He put Family around us, gave us Church, friends and community.

Just look at the Church we are part of, known for its love and care!

He guides us through His bible, helps us to see what is right and good for us.

He puts His teacher in us, the Holy spirit so we know how to understand the bible.

Most of all, He redeemed us for Himself through His son, our Lord Jesus Christ that we can spend eternity in Heaven as a precious part of His family.

He is the perfect Father!

Our Fathers love for us is very real. God, Creator, author of the universe, but our Father loves us, not from a distance, but right with us, close to us, right here.

How do we know that? Lets explore it. Why not take some time to think about:

Galatians 3:26

I am God's child.

So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith,

Ephesians 2:10

I am God's Incredible work of art.

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Ephesians 4:24

I am created In God's likeness.

and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Romans 5:8

I am greatly loved.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

1 John 1:9

I am totally and completely forgiven.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Psalm 139:14

I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Rom. 8:39

neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Matt. 6:11 - The Lords prayer - Give us today our daily bread.

Lk. 11:13

Which of you fathers, if your son asks for[f] a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!

Hebrews 12:7-9

Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? 8 If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all. 9 Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live!

Matthew 18:14

In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost.

And we could go on.

The bible is the most valuable love letter from a Father to His children ever written. It describes the lengths He goes to to show His love for us; The things He has done for us; His hopes and dreams for us. How He made us, The plans He has for us. How we were created, The spirit He gave us, His hopes for us when we get lost. His provision for us in all things. His protection for us.

Even Satan has to ask permission from God himself, our Father, who puts limits on how far he can go and what he can do in our lives ( Job 1:12 The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.” )

As we go from here today, lets search out our Father, lets keep an eye open for His hand at work, and lets share our Fathers love with those who cant see His amazing love yet!

Father God, we thank you for caring for us, and going to such extremes for us. Thank you for being in our lives, whether we see you or not. Please open our eyes and heart to who you are, and who you made us to be. Help us to please you. Please draw us close, we pray in the name of your Son, our Lord and saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen
