Taking care of Gods House
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
Proverbs 9:10

Yet the Lord set his affection on your ancestors and loved them, and he chose you, their descendants, above all the nations—as it is today
Deuteronomy 10:15

A few Sundays back, I was reminded of when were were preparing to build the extension to our Church. One of the things that came up a few times by a few people was Haggai 1, A Call to Build the House of the Lord, specifically

3 Then the word of the Lord came through the prophet Haggai: 4 “Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your paneled houses, while this house remains a ruin?”

We often spend time building our own houses, our own lives, our own families, but too often forget we should be about our Fathers business as Jesus said. We should be about building His house. Building His dreams. Building the Church He wants. That's not to say we shouldn't build our own houses and dreams, but as Matthew 6:33 says:

33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

I think we as a Church stepped out with genuine hearts to move our Church forward, We worked together through rough times and smooth and look what the Lord has blessed us with. What a beautiful extension to our wonderful Church.

We stepped out in faith and our Father provided. It took faith and work, but the money came together as the building did. I think that this was another example of our Father in Heaven, and our Lord Jesus Christ showing us how to trust them, and step out with them to see share amazing experiences with them.

Lets take a few minutes to think back over those times, and remember and discuss that journey with our Lord Jesus as He is sat right next to you now! Remember the excitement and hope of those days.

Now the question remains, have we gone back to building our own houses, but left the Lords house, His Church half built?

There are members of our Church who have worked hard on trying to encourage new people into our Church, to share our new space, and to share Jesus with those who maybe are not sure about Jesus, but are sharing time with us. Which is really great, right and good.

Now is maybe a good time to think about our gifts and are we using them to build our Lord Jesus Church both here in Cliviger and further afield?

Lets spend some time now thinking about the gifts we have and how they may have changed and developed over the years since we started planning the extension to our Church. Have you used your gifts, and developed them over those years? Have they changed?

How do your gifts, feelings and hopes compare to when you first started your journey with Jesus? Spend some time reminiscing and enjoying that new and exciting time with Jesus.

Part of building our Church and our Father Gods Church is to use the Gifts that He has given us for a time such as this, and enjoy using them. How can you use those precious gifts today, this week, and over the rest of the year?

We often see preachers who teach us that we should be reaching out, evangelising, praying, ministering, witnessing, healing, and many others with such passion that it almost as if that is the main or only thing that matters. The truth is that is their gift and truly it is the main thing for them, because that is their gift and their heart. We need all the gifts to work together to build the Church. Never feel dejected or put off if that is not your gift, but develop your gifts to that same level, with that same hope and excitement for our Lords Church.

Our Gifts and our Hearts are what build our Lords Church, both within the walls of the building, but outside of those walls as well. That is how we will help in building our Fathers house, and then we can stand on His promise, that He will help build our houses as well, even more so!

The more we give, the more we receive, often in ways we couldn't imagine or even purchase with all the money in the world! Truly Heavenly gifts.

As we are considering building our Fathers House, our Lord Jesus's Church, it reminds me of a very startling thing I heard over the last few weeks.

Someone said during their preaching, that if we were to look at the state of the world today, we can legitimately say it is the fault of the Church. WOW! What a statement, and of course our natural defences kick in here to justify why this isn't so. But think about this. The world is in the middle of a fight between good and evil; Father God, Lord Jesus and the Holy spirit are the leaders of the good side. Lucifer and his angels are the leaders of the evil side. The players of the game are us people. We choose one side or another; or even sometimes we don't choose a side but slide into one side or the other.

We as Church have the responsibility to be pointing this out, sharing our Father's goodness and love and helping people in what ever way they need. We as believers know the only way to Eternal life is though our Lord Jesus, by accepting Him as our Lord and Saviour, and trusting that He paid the price for our sins, which we cannot pay our selves. Only with that sin price paid can we enter Heavens realms. This is what the fight is all about, the more people who know this truth and believe in Jesus, the more are saved.

The more lucifer can deceive people or distract them, the more souls will perish.

Building our Father house is about saving those who do not yet know about or understand our Lord Jesus, those that have been deceived and those that don't yet care.

Now the question becomes what can we do to help build our Fathers house? How can we use the gifts to help win this battle for our Father in Heaven and Lord Jesus?

How can Mount Zion help in this battle?

We all have a part to play with our gifts. The evangelists and apostles are on the front line of the fight. Intercessors, seer's and prophets provide the intelligence for the war effort. Pastors and carer's bind up the broken hearted and wounded. Prayer warriors seek the help of our Father, Lord Jesus and Holy Spirit in this fight. To name but a few of the gifting areas.

John F. Kennedy is famous for saying:

“Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country,”

Maybe we should adopt and change this to.

“Ask not what your Church can do for you – ask what you can do for your Church,”

Lets continue to build Gods house together.

Father thank you for this time with you to think about your Church and your heart. Help us to please you, help us to build your Church up the way you want. Thank you that you are always there helping and encouraging us. Lord Jesus, please move our hearts with what moves yours and give us a vision of our lives lived your way and for you. Help us to follow your heart for your Church, and bless your Church with many new believers we pray in your precious name Lord Jesus, Amen
